A Specialist Equipment & Facilities project focusing on a disabled toilet and hoist at Absolutely Leisure in the Chilterns, has been funded by a grant of £17,300. This initiative, aimed at supporting children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, is set to make a meaningful impact on the local community by giving children a chance to thrive.

About Absolutely Leisure

Absolutely Leisure, through its Together Karting programme, has a strong history of supporting families of children with additional needs by providing inclusive leisure experiences that are often otherwise inaccessible. This new Specialist Equipment & Facilities project provides a fully accessible, safe and welcoming environment designed to support children and young people with disabilities, as well as their families.

Funded by a generous Wooden Spoon Charity grant, this project aligns with Wooden Spoon’s commitment to creating inclusive, accessible environments that foster well-being, confidence and personal growth.

With the introduction of a disabled toilet and hoist, alongside three twin-seat accessible go-karts, the programme ensures that every child has the opportunity to experience the thrill of karting. The initiative helps to reduce social isolation, improve mental wellbeing, build confidence, lower anxiety and enhance coordination, all while enabling families to take part together at times that suit them.

With Wooden Spoon’s support, Absolutely Leisure can now deliver up to 6,000 free sessions to children and young people with additional needs and disabilities, making a lasting difference across the Chilterns region.
